Design systems that work for everyone.
Hi, I'm Jalena. I design the tokens, components, and guidance that help product teams build accessible, consistent experiences, and these days I do a lot of that work in code. Right now I'm on Cosmos, Bumble's design system.

Cosmos
Cosmos is the design system behind Bumble and Badoo. I own its token architecture, which we manage in Tokens Studio. I also designed and coded Cosmos Health, a dashboard that shows how the system is being adopted, and built a Claude Code skill that checks designs for Cosmos compliance.
Case study coming soonGestalt
Gestalt is Pinterest's design system for iOS, Android, and Web. I shipped more than 12 new cross-platform components and led the migration of 16 web components so we could retire the Classic theme. Along the way, designer compliance with Gestalt reached 99%.

Ford Pro Design System
Ford Pro · 2023–2024Unified separate component libraries into one system and led documentation and governance, cutting support requests by 60%.

One source of truth
I build token architecture and theming in Tokens Studio so design and code stay in sync, no matter how many products or platforms the system has to serve.
Systems people actually use
A system only works if people choose it. That's why I put real care into documentation, office hours, intake, and coaching, so the right component is always the easiest one to reach for.
Accessible by default
I build WCAG into components and tokens from the beginning, and I plan for localization early instead of fixing it later.
Designing in code
Part of my week happens in the terminal. With Claude Code and GitHub, I fix bugs and ship system improvements myself, working side by side with engineers.
I've worked in UX for more than 8 years, and for the last 5 I've focused on enterprise design systems at Bumble, Pinterest, Ford Pro, and Medable. The parts I love most are token architecture, cross-platform components, and big migrations, along with the quieter work of governance that gets a system adopted.
Accessibility and inclusion are why I do this work. A system that works for most people isn't finished. I design components for screen readers and keyboard users, and localize them from the start. Across my roles I've championed accessibility through team talks, audits, education, and VPAT work, and I completed the IAAP WAS curriculum with Deque. Studying and working in different countries taught me to design for people whose language and context aren't my own.
I earned my BFA at Pratt Institute and I'm a working artist, represented by Warnes Contemporary in Brooklyn. See my art ↗
